PLASTIC ARTIST
Artist
He was born in Montevideo, Uruguay on April 21, 1955.
Granddaughter of Greeks and Spaniards.
Like most people who are dedicated to painting, Elena Juan remembers that she has always drawn and painted.
In 1972, at the age of 17, she entered the Edgardo Ribeiro Workshop, a direct disciple of the teacher Joaquín Torres García, and was trained under the teacher's guidelines.
At that time the School of Fine Arts had been closed by the dictatorship. Then he learns with teachers Hugo Longa and Guillermo Fernández.
And sculpture with Nimar Salmini.
From a very young age he began to exhibit, first in a collective way. His first individual exhibition was made at the age of 28 at the Moretti Gallery, Montevideo. He exhibits in Galleries, Official Salons and International Fairs, in different parts of the world.
What started as a hobby, became his way of life. In 1994 he began to teach drawing and painting classes, and in 1998 he opened his own Workshop. Which will later be called "La Casa de Quiroga Workshop". In her words, throughout all these years a group of wonderful people have passed and continue to be, who have nurtured her a lot.
Elena Juan says that "she doesn't paint for"; If not, what paints "because". She does not paint to exhibit or sell, although she exhibits and sells, she paints because she needs it. It is a physiological need for her. He cannot conceive of life without God, his family and painting. Without God he could not "be" and without his family and painting, he could not "live".
His work is in public and private collections in Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Venezuela, USA, Australia, France and Greece.
