full biography

He was born in Montevideo on April 21, 1955.

He studied drawing and painting with the teachers Edgardo Ribeiro, Edgardo Ribeiro Nario, Hugo Longa and Guillermo Fernández.  And sculpture with Prof. Nimar Salmini.

 

1972 - Enters the Edgardo Ribeiro Workshop, with the guidelines of the teacher Torres García.

1974 - Begins to expose both collectively and individually:

1974 - Contemporary Gallery (Edgardo Ribeiro Workshop)

1974 - He makes a study trip with the Workshop to the north of Argentina, Bolivia and Peru, visiting              Machu Pichu

1975 - Exhibits at the Círculo Católico de Obreros, group show, together with:  Carmelo from                 Arzadum, Vicente Martín, Edgardo Ribeiro, Edgardo Ribeiro Nario, José Luis Zorrilla de San         Martín, José Belloni, Eduardo Yepes, Gustavo Calvo Ferro, Walter Nadal, among others.

1975 - Intervenes in the First Hall of the Independents, French Alliance

1975 - Contemporary Gallery (Edgardo Ribeiro Workshop)

1976 - Montevideo Municipal Subway (Edgardo Ribeiro Workshop)

1976 - Acali Bookstore, Punta del Este (with members of the Edgardo Ribeiro Workshop)

1976 - Travels to Europe where he resides for a year, visits museums and galleries, and visits the teacher in           your workshop in Mallorca

1978 - Exhibits at the Theater of Fine Arts in Maracaibo, Venezuela, along with “Seis                      Montevideanos ”, members of the Edgardo Ribeiro Workshop.

1978  - Exhibits at the Losada Gallery, together with the Architect Gustavo Calvo Ferro.

1978 - Intervenes in the Banco República Hall.

1979 - Marries

1980 and 1981 - Their children Ana Inés and Rafael are born

1982 - After momentarily leaving painting, he restarted this activity.

1983 - Participates in the IV Departmental Salon of Plastic and Visual Arts, San José.

1983 - Exhibits at the Moretti Gallery  (individual sample)

1998 - Officially inaugurated the "Elena Juan Workshop", which in 2005 became the              “La Casa de Quiroga Group Workshop” which he directs together with his daughter Ana Inés.

2000 - Exhibits with the plastic artist Rosario Rodríguez Muape at the Cultural Space "La              Spezia "

2001 - Contemporary Artists Palettes, at the JE Gomensoro Gallery, APEU

2003 - Exhibits in the Aula Magna of  the Catholic University of Uruguay (Sample of Sacred Art)

2004 - Exhibits his  "Apocalypse Series", in Portones Shopping (individual exhibition)
